Champion Teams of the Indian Premier League
Mumbai Indians started playing IPL in 2008 and now in 2024, they have won it five times making them one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League history. Mumbai have not only won the IPL many times but they have produced some exciting young talent for the respective nations.
Along with Mumbai Indians, only one team matches their status in terms of trophies and fan base. They are none other than Chennai Super Kings who are probably the best IPL team in history. Chennai has won the trophy five times equaling the record of Mumbai Indians. CSK have played the finals 10 times and qualified for knockout stages 12 times in the 14 seasons that they played up until now.
Double Time Winners of Indian Premier League
There have been only two teams who have won the IPL twice and they are Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR has won the IPL twice under the leadership of Gautham Gambhir. The Shah Rukh Khan-owned team has a different kind of fan base where they represent the East side of India.
While the story is somewhat different with Sunrisers Hyderabad as when they first won the title in 2009 under different ownership where the team name was Deccan Chargers Hyderabad. Then after the change in ownership, the team name was changed to Sunrisers Hyderabad where they again won the title in 2016 under David Warner’s leadership. That’s why the Hyderabad team can be considered as two-time champions.
Single-Time Winners of Indian Premier League
Rajasthan Royals were the inaugural winners of the IPL edition by winning the title in 2008. Royals won the trophy in the first season of the IPL and up until now they have not repeated this feat. Even though they were suspended for two seasons due to financial issues they are a good team but failed to lift the trophy multiple times.
Gujarat Titans is a relatively young/new team in the Indian premier league they were introduced into IPL in 2022 where they made history by winning the title in their first season itself. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, they did what everyone taught was impossible to do. But now with the move of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai, Gujarat has named young sensation Subhman Gill as the new skipper for the 2024 season.
