The suspension follows the unexpected abandonment of Thursday’s match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), which was called off during the first innings. The game, held in Dharamsala, was disrupted due to heightened security alerts in the region. With local airports, including Dharamsala and others in nearby cities, closed for security reasons, the IPL management swiftly arranged a special train to transport both teams to Delhi on Friday morning.
Prior to the suspension, IPL 2025 had reached its 58th match, including the incomplete fixture in Dharamsala. There were just 12 group-stage matches remaining, with games scheduled across several major cities such as Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The playoffs were originally planned to be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata.
