IPL 2025 resume date update: The Indian Premier League 2025 is gearing up for a much-anticipated resumption following a brief suspension due to rising tensions at the India-Pakistan border. With diplomatic progress and a ceasefire now in place, the BCCI is planning to restart the tournament by May 16 or 17, ensuring a swift and safe continuation of the season. 

A total of 12 league matches and 4 playoff fixtures remain, with the tournament set to resume with a clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.  

However, the resumption won’t be without challenges. Several international players have already departed, and logistics across multiple venues are being restructured. The BCCI is expected to release the revised schedule by Sunday night (May 11), sharing details with all franchises. 

The playoffs are tentatively set to be held at multiple venues. Hyderabad is likely to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while Kolkata is the preferred destination for Qualifier 2 and the Final. However, Ahmedabad remains on standby to host the final should inclement weather threaten the match in Kolkata. 

The final is expected to take place on May 30 or June 1, with fans eagerly awaiting clarity on the full revised schedule. 

The board is also deliberating on the status of the PBKS vs DC match, which was called off after 10.1 overs due to air and drone strikes that triggered blackouts in nearby regions, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. 

One of the key challenges for the BCCI will be managing team combinations and competitiveness, as many foreign players have already returned to their countries amid the brief suspension.  

With the logistical concerns, and player availability issues, the IPL 2025 edition is heading toward a thrilling and unpredictable climax. All eyes are now on the revised fixture list, which will determine how the final phase of the league unfolds and whether the weather gods will allow Kolkata to host the final showdown.
