India’s strongest playing 11 for T20I series against Sri Lanka
India’s full-strength side is ready to start a new chapter of building a team for the next T20 World Cup with an upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting July 27. Let’s look at India’s strongest playing 11 for T20I series against Sri Lanka.
As World Cup winning skipper Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest format last month, and veterans Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja also followed the same approach. The selectors have selected a team with the next World Cup in mind.
Suryakumar Yadav, who has the experience of leading India in seven games has been named as the skipper with Shubman Gill, who recently led a young Indian team to 4-1 series victory in Zimbabwe will remain his deputy in the series.
Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the proven opening batters, while Rishabh Pant, who did well in the recently concluded T20 World Cup will likely bat at no.3 followed by skipper Suryakumar at no.4 spot.
Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube are the perfect big hitters present in the team and will come in the middle according to the match’s situation.
Axar Patel, who played a rescuing knock of 31-ball 47 with the bat in T20 WC final against South Africa, is seen as a long-run all-rounder option in India’s T20 set-up after veteran Jadeja bid adieu to the format.
Experienced Mohd. Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will be seen leading the pace attack in the series, while Ravi Bishnoi will find a place as a specialist leg break bowler in the playing 11.
