Team India’s best playing 11 for test series vs New Zealand

After a dominating 2-format home series against Bangladesh, which India won 5-0, the Indian team is now ready to host New Zealand for a three-match test series, starting October 16.

The first of the three tests will be held from October 16 to 20 in Bengaluru, followed by the second in Pune from October 24 to 28, and the final in Mumbai from November 1 to 5.

Team India, who is currently at the top of the WTC standings with 74.24 percentage will need to win five of their next eight games remaining in the WTC 2023-25 cycle. If they manage to do so, the Indian will straightaway qualify for the WTC 2025 finals.

India’s main aim will be to win this series with a 3-0, as their next series is against Australia in Australia. Although, team India won the last two series down under and will start the BGT as favourites this time also.

The WTC inaugural edition winners New Zealand already low on confidence after facing a 2-0 defeat from Sri Lanka in red-ball cricket recently. While the unavailability of veteran Kane Williamson in the first test due to groin strain is a major setback for the visitors.

India’s top performers

Yashasvi Jaiswal is in top and highest run-getter in the second successive test series this year for India. Jaiswal also scored most runs for India in test cricket with 929 in only 8 games.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant also scored tons in the second test versus Bangladesh recently, while Virat Kohli and KL Rahul showed signs of their good form.

India’s bowling line-up is currently best in the world and the presence of spin all-rounder Jadeja, Ashwin not only help Indian secure wickets at regular intervals, but both are equally handy with the bat too.

Jasprit Bumrah is the backbone of India’s pace attack, while Mohammed Siraj and the newly joined Akash Deep are also performing well in the test cricket.
