BCCI has announced the 16-member squad for the upcoming Australian tour in December, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side with Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain. Shafali Verma has been left out of the Indian squad, which has led many fans to question the reason behind her exclusion. Let’s look at Indian Womens squad for Australia tour 2024.
While Shafali’s departure dims the lights, there is a brighter wave on shore that arrives with Richa Ghosh. As she is set to rejoin the team, after missing out on the ODI series with New Zealand because of her 12th board exam.
“The Women’s Selection Committee has picked the Team India (Senior Women) squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The first two ODIs will be held at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane before the action shifts to WACA Ground, Perth for the final match of the series, which is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship,” BCCI release.
Richa, who is a keeper-batter, has been added alongside Yastika Bhatia. Harleen Deol is also returning after being sidelined because of her knee injury, a new name Minnu Mani is getting called up for her first national ODI after her excellent performance while leading India A against Australia A earlier this year. Titas Sadhu and Jemimah Rodrigues will have a platform to play a significant role in the team, which can enhance their chances of being a regular call-up for future tournaments.
