Opted to bat, India faced a shocking start in the comeback match, as they lost the wicket of their skipper, Shubman Gill, in the second over of the game for 2.

But the young Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad took the center stage and rescued the side with their solid techniques with the bat.

Sharma, who was out without scoring a run in his debut game, opened his international cricket account with a six.

Both added 137 runs for the second wicket, which is also the highest ever partnership by Indian batters against Zimbabwe in T20Is.

Interestingly, Abhishek Sharma not only started with a six, but he also completed his first fifty by smashing a six, and his maiden ton with a mighty six.

Sharma played a knock of 100 in only 47 deliveries. His innings included seven fours and eight maximums.

Rututraj Gaikwad remained unbeaten at 77 off 47. While Rinku Singh, who got a promotion in batting order to provide a perfect finish, proved the decision right, scoring 48* off 22.

India posted 234 on board after 20 overs, which is their seventh best total in T20I history.

Zimbabwe to chase 235 in 20 overs

Mukesh Kumar took no time in providing India first match as his in-swing to Innocent Kaia knocked him over.

He got the wicket of aggressive Bennett for 26 in his second over to keep India on top.

Avesh Khan joined the party and bagged 2 wickets in his first over.

Zimbabwe batters found it extremely hard to play big shots against Indian bowlers.

Wessly Madhevere (43 off 39) did try his best to narrow the gap but due to lack of support from other end, Zimbabwe end up scoring only and lost the second T20I by 100 runs.

Both Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan bagged 3-3 wickets each for India.
