IND vs BAN 1st Test Highlights Today

India maintained their dominance in home cricket after beating Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first test of the two-match series on Sunday. Let’s look at IND vs BAN 1st Test Highlights.

Chasing a target of 515, Bangladesh bundled out for 234 on day 4 at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the top-performer in the game, having smashed a ton for India during crucial time and bagged 6 wickets. It was Ashwin’s 37th five-wicket haul in his international test career.

The Jadeja-Ashwin show in Chennai

Batting first, India faced a shaky start as they lost their first three on 34 and six on 144. With Bangladesh seemed in control, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin came out of syllabus.

Both not only rescued the Indian team with their 199-run partnership, but also provided their team a stage to rule the game. Ashwin completed his sixth hundred in the process, while Jadeja scored 86.

The duo of Jadeja and Ashwin also starred with ball, as Jadeja picked three wickets and Ashwin grabbed six.

R Ashwin, who is currently the number 1 bowler in ICC Test bowlers’ rankings, climbed up to eighth position on highest wicket-taker list in test cricket. Ashwin now has 522 wickets red-ball format.

Shubman, Pant batting brilliance

After posting 376 in first innings, and bowled Bangladesh out for 149 to take 227-run lead, team India opted to bat again to set a target for the opposition.

India once again not had a great start and lost three wickets for 67. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant then took the center stage and both recorded centuries.

It was a memorable moment for wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant, who made his comeback to red-ball cricket after missing the action for the last 17 months due to his horrific car accident in December 2022.

Riding high on Shubman’s 119*, and Rishabh Pant’s 109, India declared their innings at 287 and set a whopping 515 target for the visitors.

Indian spin-duo take the responsibility to hand the home side a comfortable win, as both grabbed nine wickets in the second innings and bundled out Bangladesh for 234.

Interestingly, team India has not lost a test series since 2013 in at home soil, and with a win in the first match of this series, India will look to maintain their dominance further.
