BGT 4th Test: From Celebration to Chaos on Day 2, Team India 164/5 at stumps

IND vs AUS 4th BGT Test Day 2 Highlights

From a joyous ending to panicky finish on day 2, Team India was on 164 for 5 at stumps in the fourth BGT Test in Melbourne. Now let’s look at IND vs AUS 4th BGT Test Day 2 Highlights.

The final half hour has turned to be a nightmare for Team India, as they lost both of their set batters and the nightwatchman during that period.

A wrong run call by Yashasvi Jaiswal ended his wonderful knock at 82, which he may turn into a big hundred, while Kohli, who started well with the bat and looked good at 36, edged that outside off Stump delivery once more.

Australia added 163 more runs on day 2 to take their first innings total to 474. Steve Smith, who started the day from 68 went on to hit 140, while Australian captain Pat Cummings scored 49.

15 runs contributions from Starc and Lyon each were also valuable at the end to set a 275-run follow on.

Earlier, half-century knocks from top 3 (Sam Usman Khawaja (57), and Marnus Labuschagne (72)) provided Australia with a solid start in the Boxing Day Test.

Jasprit Bumrah once again remained the star performer with ball for team India, as he bagged four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took 3.

India, in reply to Australia mammoth total, the visiting side lost their captain and the most reliable batter early. However, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli’s 102-run stand for the third wicket, India still on par in the match.

Jaiswal, Kohli 102-run stand take Team India forward

A change in opening combination from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul to Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma not worked for the Indian team, as the skipper Rohit Sharma, lost his wicket on 3 after attempting a confusing shot against Pat Cummins.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli rescued India and did a 102-run partnership. Things were in Team India’s control before Jaiswal insisted a quick single after hitting the ball quick and straight towards Pat Cummins at mid-on, who ran him out.

Virat Kohli also lost his tempo and again edged the fifth to sixth stump ball to throw his wicket after being set at 36. Akash Deep, who came into bat at number 5 as night watchman, also got out that shaked India’s innings.
