After a modest first innings total of 150, India bounced back strong thanks to centuries from Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Here’s a look at the IND vs AUS 1st Test Day 3 Highlights.

What happened after India’s 150 in 1st BGT Test

On Day 2, Australia resumed at 67 for 7 and quickly found themselves in trouble. Mitchell Starc top-scored with just 26 runs, and the Indian bowling stint, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul, relentlessly applied pressure. Harshit Rana shone on debut with three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj added two, helping bowl Australia out for just 104 in 51.2 overs.

Indian openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, took full advantage of the situation. The pair batted with great composure, putting together a solid partnership and giving India a commanding 218-run lead as they moved into their second innings.

Strong batting performance from Jaiswal and Kohli

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave a solid performance on Day 3, extending their opening partnership to 200 runs before Rahul was dismissed for 77 by Mitchell Starc. Jaiswal, in stellar form, reached his fourth Test century, finishing with 161 from 297 balls, featuring 15 boundaries and three sixes.

Devdutt Padikkal, coming in at number three, also contributed with a gritty 25 off 71 balls before falling to Josh Hazlewood after lunch. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli played a crucial role, scoring a magnificent 30th Test century. His innings, which came off 194 balls, were a display of both patience and aggression, helping India build a strong total.

Kohli’s century, combined with Washington Sundar’s valuable 29, helped India score 487. Jasprit Bumrah made early inroads with the ball, dismissing Nathan McSweeney for a duck in the first over, and followed up with two more quick wickets as Australia ended the day at 12-3, still needing 522 runs. India now eyes a dominant victory, with seven more wickets to fall.
