ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule Update, PCB and BCCI Remain Locked in Stalemate

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has become a highlighted cricketing issue, with stressful tensions between India and Pakistan because of security issues. India has been standing strong with their stance of not traveling to Pakistan to participate in the event, resulting in the boards compromising through a ‘Hybrid’ model. Let’s look at ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule Update.

The hybrid model ensures Team India’s safety, as they will play their share of matches in Dubai. While Pakistan will host its own games in their country, PCB has also been okay with this solution. But, they have made a set of conditions to accept it. According to reports, the board needs written confirmation from the ICC that, the future ICC events held in India and Pakistan will play their matches in neutral locations like Dubai.

Apart from this PCB is demanding an increase in share of the annual revenue from the ICC. With the two conditions in place, Cricket Pakistan reports that BCCI has been “Hesitant” to accept this proposal made by PCB. If the reports are correct, the proposed agreement reflects Naqvi’s previous statement: “We travel to India, but they don’t reciprocate.” PCB sources have stressed that “financial gain is not the primary concern for the PCB; it is about respect and dignity. The resolution must ensure fairness to settle this issue definitively.

ICC Under Pressure to Resolve Issue

The ongoing dispute has created a complex situation for the ICC, which is under significant pressure to resolve the deadlock. If no resolution is reached, the viability of the 2025 Champions Trophy could be in jeopardy.

ICC Champions Trophy has still not released the schedule for the tournament which is set to take place in February, the broadcaster meeting for the Champions Trophy is set for next week.

With the schedule yet to be released, which can ensure that the stakeholders don’t suffer losses, a dead end for this situation remains in the hands of both the boards PCB and BCCI. The situation highlights the broader tensions in international cricket, where politics, security concerns, and financial issues intersect.
