England’s Qualification Scenario for Champions Trophy 2025

After a huge defeat by 100 runs at the hands of India, England is now in danger of being out of the Champions Trophy which is to be played in 2025. 

According to the ICC rules, there will be as many as 8 teams will participate in the Champions Trophy 2025, and the top 7 teams at the end of the group stage of the World Cup 2023 will be able to directly qualify for the Champions Trophy, while the 8th team will be Pakistan as they are the host of the competition.  

England, who have lost 5 out of 6 matches and are currently at the bottom of the points table at tenth, are in deep trouble, and to qualify for the CT 2025 is looking a tough task for the 2019 ODI World Cup Champions, but if they manage to win their remaining 3 matches, they can come up in the points table, which can create some possibility for them.

There are a few more scenarios which may help England to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Scenario 1: England need to win all of their remaining games.  

Scenario 2: If they win 2 off their also, they will remain in queue, but they have to rely on other fixtures results.  

Scenario 3: If Netherlands lose all of their 3 games, Bangladesh and Afghanistan both lose their 2-2, and England wins 2.

The road is however tough for the English side, considering their upcoming match against the confident Australia on October 4. The Aussies side is currently in fourth spot with 4 wins in 6 games.  

England will next face Netherlands on October 8, who are at seventh spot on the points table, while their last game will be against Pakistan on October 11 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
