Duleep Trophy Day-1 Updates: The 2024 Duleep Trophy kicked off with two thrilling matches, setting the tone for an exciting domestic season. India-A faced India-B in Bengaluru, while India-C locked horns with India-D in Anantapur. Both games were filled with intense action as bowlers dominated the opening day, While Musheer Khan with a wonderful century showed his relicense to help his team fight back.

India A team where on point with their bowling as Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, and Khaleel Ahmed all three picked up two wickets each to disrupt the B-Team. However, they failed to stop one man Musheer Khan who literally took the game away from the opponents.

India-A vs India-B: Musheer Khan Shines

In the first match of the season, India-A won the toss and chose to bowl first. India-B openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran started cautiously but were dismissed within the first 22 overs. India-A’s bowling attack, led by Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, and Khaleel Ahmed, kept the pressure on, each picking up two wickets to disrupt India-B’s batting lineup.

However, Musheer Khan stood tall amidst the chaos. The domestic sensation played a remarkable knock, carrying the team on his shoulders. With the top order collapsing around him, Musheer anchored the innings, eventually reaching an unbeaten 105 off 227 balls. His century was crucial in lifting India-B to a respectable score of 202/7 by the end of Day 1. Musheer’s gritty innings were the highlight of the day, showcasing his potential to make it to the next level.

India-C vs India-D: Axar Patel Leads from the Front

On the other side of the country in Anantapur, India-C took on India-D in the second Duleep Trophy fixture. India-C won the toss and elected to bowl first, whereas India-D struggled to build partnerships, with most of their top-order batsmen falling cheaply. However, Axar Patel came to the rescue with a brilliant knock of 86 off 118 balls. His innings helped India-D post 164 in just 48.3 overs.

Vijaykumar Vyshak was the standout bowler for India-C, claiming three crucial wickets to keep India-D in check. In response, India-C also faced early setbacks, losing their top four batsmen at regular intervals. By the end of Day 1, India-C was trailing by 73 runs with six wickets in hand, thanks to some sharp bowling from Axar Patel and Harshit Rana, who provided early breakthroughs.
