Did SRK and Ness Wadia fight in IPL owners meet: The Indian Premier League’s franchise owners meeting on Wednesday witnessed a heated moment between Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and the co-owner of Punjab Kings Ness Wadia.  

The franchise owners meeting took place at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai, where many topics were discussed, including the number of player retentions, overseas limit and the Impact Player rule, among others.

According to a report by cricbuzz, the co-owners of KKR and PBKS, disagreed over the number of player retentions, at one point, SRK got into altercation with Ness Wadia.  

SRK, who is also the co-owner of team Kolkata Knight Riders, was opposed to conducting a mega auction ahead of IPL 2025, while Wadia supported it.  

However, Wadia denied having a heated argument with SRK during the IPL owners meeting. 

Khan found support from Sunrisers Hyderabad’s co-owner Kavya Maran. Maran’s SRH and Khan’s KKR performed superbly in the IPL season, and comfortably reached the playoffs. Kolkata defeated Hyderabad in both qualifier and finals to win the IPL 2024 title.

And both the owners, with almost sorted squad, do not want to disrupt the flow, as she stated that it “takes a lot of time to build” the squad. 

Apart from the player retention and mega auction, the impact player rule was the most discussed topic.  

This rule was included in 2023, which allows teams to pick an extra batter/bowler depending on the situation.  

Many players and experts have shown dissatisfaction with this rule, contending that it only encourages power hitting, and does little to help all-rounders develop.

Interestingly, nine out of ten highest ever totals in IPL history were recorded after the Impact player rule was implemented, showcasing the confidence and power it provides to the teams.  

Some of the biggest cricket icons, including India’s T20 World winning captain Rohit Sharma, expressed his disinterest with the rule by stating that he is not a big fan since it prevents development of all-rounders.
