DC vs CSK Match Updates: In an uphill battle of titans the Delhi Capitals side have emerged as the winners beating Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. CSK faces their first defeat of the season here at Vizag. Delhi Capitals were excellent in defending the target and making sure they did not give any room for Chennai batsmen at the end. It’s the first time in the last five meetings that Delhi Capitals have won against CSK.

In an exciting content of IPL 2024 the Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first. Delhi Capitals considering the pitch conditions decided to start the innings on a positive note. This for Delhi it was David Warner and Prithvi Shaw who took charge at first and made sure Delhi started well.

Delhi Capitals were on Point with their Plan

Prithvi Shaw came back to his natural best when he scored a blistering knock of 43 off 27 balls. Supporting at the other end was David Warner who smashed 52 off 35 balls. Both the openers combined scored 9 boundaries and five sixes together. This partnership gave the Delhi Capitals the much-needed stand to help the team win the match. 

Rishabh Pant was back in his old form as he smashed a beautiful half-century which helped Delhi Capitals to score 190+. Pant scored an amazing 51 of 32 balls, which included three massive sixes and four boundaries. 

Matheesha Pathirana was brilliant today for Chennai as he took an outstanding catch to dismiss David Warner. He also picked up three crucial wickets, which stopped the run flow in the middle overs. However, he did not get much support from other bowlers as only Ravindra Jadeja and Mustafizur picked up a wicket each. This decent bowling effort of CSK led the Delhi Capitals to score 191/5 in 20 overs. 

Chennai Felt Short of Chasing 192 Runs

Chennai openers Ruturaj Gaikwad & Rachin Ravindra did not start as CSK would expect and the result was that CSK was down with two wickets inside the first three overs. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell held the rope for CSK and gave a glimmer of hope for CSK fans. Rahane scored an outstanding 45 off 30 balls before getting dismissed by Mukesh Kumar. 

Daryl Mitchell also contributed with his 26 balls and 34 runs. However, when everyone thought that CSK was winning in came, Mukesh Kumar with his brilliant spell picked up three crucial wickets. Khaleel Ahmed also picked up two wickets and Axar Patel took one wicket. This combined effort held CSK for 171/6 in 20 overs making them short of 20 runs. 

DC Won the Match but Dhoni Won the Hearts

The much-awaited comeback of MS Dhoni was witnessed, when CSK was down to 120/6 in came the Indian legend MS Dhoni, it was a difficult task for Dhoni as the required runs were higher. Dhoni smashed three sixes and four boundaries in just 16 balls. Even though CSK did not win the match fans will be happy with the cricket played here at Vizag and most importantly the comback knock of Thala MS Dhoni. He once again showed that he still has got it. 

Delhi Capitals however win the match by 20 runs, thanks to the aggressive start of Delhi along with the knock of Rishabh Pant and Mukesh Kumar’s amazing bowling performance.
