Chennai Super Kings To Join WPL?: After emerging as the most successful side in the IPL (Indian Premier League), the Chennai Super Kings may soon be seen in the Women’s Premier League, as CSK aiming to own a WPL franchise.
The five-time IPL Champions, CSK has the one of the most followed cricket franchise in the world, and the decision to enter the Women’s Premier League would significantly expand their brand and help drive the growth of women’s cricket. Given Chennai Super Kings’ strong fan base, their entry into the Women’s Cricket League (MCL) would enhance the league’s overall experience, add value and competition, attract more viewership, and promote gender equality.
Rupa Gurunath, the whole time director of Indian Cement and daughter of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) owner N Srinivasan, is likely to join CSKCL’s board, and will remain actively involved in expanding and planning for the franchise’s future attempts.

One of CSKCL’s key focuses is on exploring the financial viability and difficulty involved in potentially owning a team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). As per the media reports, CSK is thoroughly analyzing various aspects and seeking insights from other successful franchises to inform their decision-making process.
India Cements has a distinguished history of supporting the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and has made substantial contributions through involvement with its teams and coaching staff.
A survey conducted by investment bank Houlihan Lokey has revealed that the CSK franchise holds the highest valuation among all the teams in the Indian Premier League, with a brand value estimated at US$231 million.
R Ashwin, who was part of team Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2015 has reportedly joined the India Cements Group and will play a key role CSK’s expansion.
