BCCI reward Team India for Champions Trophy 2025 win
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a whopping INR 58 crore cash reward for the Indian cricket team following their dominant title-winning campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and sealed the championship with a commanding victory over New Zealand in the final.
According to the official statement, the reward will be distributed among players, coaching and support staff, and the men’s selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.
This is not the first time BCCI has announced a massive cash prize for Team India. Last year, after India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup triumph, the board had awarded ₹125 crore to the squad, once again captained by Rohit Sharma.
India’s winning run in Champions Trophy 2025
India’s journey in the tournament was nothing short of spectacular. They started strong with a six-wicket win against Bangladesh and followed it up with another six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. Their dominance continued with a 44-run win over New Zealand before sealing a spot in the final with a hard-fought four-wicket win over Australia in the semis.
The final against New Zealand was a thrilling contest, where Rohit Sharma led from the front with a crucial 76-run knock, guiding India to a four-wicket victory.
Shreyas Iyer was India’s standout batter of the tournament, scoring 243 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 79.41. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy emerged as India’s top wicket-takers, claiming nine wickets each.
How many times India won Champions Trophy?
This victory marks India’s third ICC Champions Trophy title, having previously won it in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s leadership and as joint winners in 2002 under Sourav Ganguly. With this triumph, Team India further cements its legacy as one of the most dominant forces in world cricket.
