BCCI Confirms Shubman Gill Fit for 1st T20I: Ready for Comeback

India received a major boost ahead of the South Africa T20I series as opener and vice-captain Shubman Gill has been declared fit to participate in the opening T20I. The confirmation came after the batter successfully completed rehabilitation under the medical unit of the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). So let’s have a look at BCCI Confirms Shubman Gill Fit for 1st T20I.

Gill Clears Fitness Test at CoE After Neck Injury

Shubman Gill has successfully cleared his fitness assessment at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), marking a strong return ahead of the T20I series against South Africa. The young opener had been under observation ever since he suffered a neck whiplash during the Kolkata Test, which even required a brief hospital admission. As a result, Gill missed the entire ODI series, allowing him time for recovery and structured rehabilitation.

The CoE released an official communication confirming his readiness for return.

“Shubman Gill has successfully completed his rehabilitation at CoE and has met the required criteria to be cleared for all formats,” CoE informed the Sports Science & Medicine (SSM) team, headed by physio Kamlesh Jain, S&C coach Adrian Le Roux and sports doctor Dr. Charles.

Successful RTP Protocol Followed

Gill underwent all Return-To-Play (RTP) procedures, which included rehab work, skill drills and match-simulation batting and fielding sessions. After satisfying every benchmark set by the board’s medical experts, he received approval to join the T20 squad.
