BCCI announces invitation for National Team Sponsor Rights

BCCI has released an official Invitation on 2nd September, 2025 for interest in Indian national team lead sponsor rights. With India about to play the Asia Cup 2025 and the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 without a main jersey sponsor. Here’s a look at BCCI announces invitation for national team sponsor rights.

BCCI’s New Sponsorship Deal

Following Dream11’s exit as Team India’s lead sponsor due to the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025, the BCCI opened bids for a new sponsor on September 2, 2025. The Expression of Interest (EOI) requires a non-refundable ₹5 lakh fee + GST, with a submission deadline of September 16.

Targeting ₹452 crore for 2025–2028, covering 140 matches, the BCCI aims for ₹3.5 crore per bilateral match and ₹1.5 crore for ICC/ACC games. However, with the Asia Cup starting September 9, India may compete without a jersey sponsor, including the high-profile India-Pakistan clash on September 14.

Strict Eligibility Criteria

The BCCI has barred online money gaming, betting, cryptocurrency, alcohol, and tobacco companies from bidding, emphasizing partnerships with “reputed entities” only. Eligible firms must have an average annual turnover or net worth of ₹300 crore over the last three audited years.

This reflects the BCCI’s commitment to comply with government regulations, as confirmed by Secretary Devajit Saikia, who noted the board will avoid real-money gaming firms moving forward. The policy shift follows Dream11’s contract termination, which included a clause protecting it from penalties due to regulatory changes.

Challenges and Opportunities

With Dream11’s ₹358-crore deal ending early, the BCCI faces a tight timeline to secure a sponsor before the Asia Cup final on September 28 or the Women’s ODI World Cup starting September 30. Reports suggest interest from Toyota and a fintech firm, but the rigorous bidding process advertising, scrutiny, and legal compliance may delay finalization.

The absence of a sponsor for key matches risks impacting BCCI’s revenue, but the lucrative deal and India’s massive cricket audience ensure strong interest, promising a new chapter in the team’s commercial journey.
