BAN-W vs SCO-W Highlights for today’s 1st match of ICC women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Bangladesh started off their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign on a positive note and defeated Scotland women by 16 runs in the tournament opener on Thursday. Let’s watch BAN-W vs SCO-W Highlights.

Defending a target of 120, the Bangladeshi bowlers kept the things extremely tight with perfect line and lengths as despite three wickets in hand and playing complete 20 overs, the Scottish team fell short by 16 runs. Sarah Bryce scored the most for team Scotland, but to score 49 she took 52 balls, which was below par of the T20 standard.

Earlier, Sobhana Mostary and Nigar Sultana’s decent knocks guided Bangladesh to a somewhat competitive total of 119.

BD-W vs SCO-W Highlights

Opting to bat, Bangladesh made a steady start with 35 for 1 after the first six overs. Murshida Khatun, who came in as an opener alongside Sthahi Rani, scored 12 off 14.

Sthathi Rani and Sobhana Mostary added 42 for the second wicket but took 44 balls that raised the pressure, and Rani lost her wicket in order to shift gears.

Taj Nehar, who joined Mostary after Rani, only played a ball and got run out. Sobhana Mostary was seen trying hard to collect boundaries and lost her wicket in the process.

Skipper Nigar Sultana did show some signs for a fightback, but due to lack of support from the other end, she also ended up losing her wicket due to increasing slow run-rate pressure for 18, as Bangladesh posted 119 for 7 in 20 overs.

Saskia Horley was the pick of the bowler for Scotland, as she bagged 3 wickets while giving only 13 in 2 overs.

Scotland to chase 120 in 20 overs

Scotland women, in reply, lost their two wickets for 31 during the powerplay. Sarah Bryce kept the things going for the Scottish team with her run a ball approach.

However, she couldn’t find much support from the other end, and despite Bryce remaining not out at 49 off 52, Scotland lost the match.

It was a good opportunity for the Scottish side to claim a win as the target was pretty ordinary to chase, but their batters failed to accelerate.

Ritu Moni starred with the ball for Bangladesh with 2 for 15. While Marufa Akhter, Nahida Akhter, Fahima Khatun and Rabeya Khan each claimed a wicket.
