Squad Update
Team Australia and their preparations are going strong as they approach their tour of New Zealand, with the first T20I scheduled for March 21 at Eden Park, Auckland. The world’s top-ranked Women’s T20I team has named a 14-player squad, including wicketkeeper-batter Nicole Faltum, who replaces Alyssa Healy. Healy is sidelined due to a foot injury sustained during the Ashes series last month.

In Healy’s absence, Tahlia McGrath will captain the side, with Ash Gardner as her deputy. Faltum, 25, is no stranger to the short format, having played in all eight editions of Australia’s domestic T20 competition, the WBBL, and was part of Melbourne Renegades’ WBBL title-winning team. She provides a backup option to veteran Beth Mooney, who has kept wickets during Healy’s absence in the Ashes but will focus on her batting role in the series against New Zealand.
Shawn Flegler, Cricket Australia’s Head of Performance, expressed excitement about Faltum’s inclusion, highlighting her consistent performances over the years. Flegler emphasized the importance of looking to the future while also acknowledging Mooney’s contributions during the Ashes. Healy is expected to be ready for the one-day World Cup later in the year.
