Despite losing their first wicket on none, the duo of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh stunned the Scottish team with their power-hitting abilities and added 113 runs for the second wicket in only 34 balls.
Skipper Mitchell Marsh shot a hard-hitting 39 off 12 with the help of five fours and three maximums. While Travis Head smashed 80 off only 25 balls. His knock included 12 fours and 5 sixes.
Head’s 73 in the first six overs is the highest ever score recorded by a batter during the powerplay in T20Is. While Australia’s team 113 is now the highest team total in powerplay in the shortest format of the game.
The first ODI was started with Scotland’s batting, and they made a decent 154 in their 20-over quota after some of their main batters contributed modestly.
IPL sensation Jake Fraser McGurk made his Australia debut, but it did not turn out well, as he walked back to pavilion without scoring a run.
World no.1 Travis Head and the Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh steeled the show and made the chase a cakewalk. Josh Inglish, who came in at number 4 after Marsh’s (39) wicket, also joined the party and struck a 13-ball 27* to hand Australia a seven-wicket win.
