Arshdeep Singh to play in Border-Gavaskar trophy, Arshdeep Singh is all set to get a chance to play in test cricket for India, as selectors are keen to pick him for India’s upcoming major tour to Australia.
The left-arm pacer played a huge role in helping India clinch their second T20 World Cup recently by taking most wickets with 17 scalps in the tournament.
Following the successful World Cup campaign, Arshdeep also expressed his desire to play test for India, and his wish is likely to be fulfilled soon.

As per a report by Times of Times (TOI), the Indian selectors are keen to pick left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024-25.
“Arshdeep has moved the ball impressively in white-ball matches for India. He could be asked to play a few domestic red-ball games, starting with the Duleep Trophy on September 5, to enhance his chances of selection for the Australia tour. There’s a real chance that he could be India’s trump card, along with (Jasprit Bumrah, in Australia,” a source was quoted as saying.

Interestingly the selectors are also looking to select a left-arm fast bowler in white-ball set-up, and Khaleel’s inclusion in the recently concluded Zimbabwe series was part of that plan
“In fact, the selectors are keen on another left-arm pace option in the white-ball side at least, which is why Khaleel Ahmed toured Zimbabwe and has been picked for both the ODIs and T20Is in Sri Lanka,” the source told TOI.

Both teams will face off in five test games in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 (BGT) which will start from Nov 22 and concludes on January 07, 2025.

Arshdeep made his India debut in international circuit in 2022 against England in Southampton. He was also included in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 and ended the campaign as the leading wicket-taker for India.
