Due to intense rivalry for spots, it has become increasingly difficult for any good players to break into the Indian team. Ask Suryakumar Yadav, who waited nearly four years to get his chance against England in a limited-overs series. If a player’s form improves, the path to joining the team becomes even more difficult. Let’s discuss Why Kuldeep Yadav Was Not Selected For T20 World Cup In 2021
Kuldeep Yadav would undoubtedly agree with this statement since he was dismissed from the team following a string of poor performances. Washington Sunder, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja are back in the mix in the white-ball scheme of things after he was sidelined.
But not all is lost to Yadav because he has an opportunity to get his position back ahead to the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, only five months away. The spinner for the Sri Lankan tour, which is scheduled to start on July 13, has been included in the 20-member team. Yadav understands that a strong performance in the six white-ball games will boost his confidence ahead of the worldwide tournament.
Why Kuldeep Yadav Was Not Selected For T20 World Cup In 2021
“To be very honest, frustrating wouldn’t be the correct word, as a player you are sad because you want to perform, you want to play the match. You can think like that, individually but not with cricket. Cricket is a team sport, and you have to play as per the requirements of the team. You have to think about the team and team combination matters a lot so it’s better to stay positive, keep putting in efforts, and wait for your opportunity to perform. Team combination for me has always been good, all have been supportive,” Kuldeep said as quoted by Times Now.
Yadav will also be prepared to succeed in the second part of the IPL, which will take place in the UAE, before the T20 World Cup. With Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, and Shakib Al Hasan all set to withdraw due to schedules, Yadav may finally get his moment and attempt to make the most of it.
“For T20, nothing more than performance matters if you have to make space for yourself in the team. There is the Sri Lanka tour, then IPL, it will all be very important for me. I hope that I perform well to take place in my team. If I perform well in both the tournaments then hopefully, I’ll get a place in the T20 World Cup team,” he explained.
