Over the previous several days, the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) has generated a lot of trouble. Herschelle Gibbs, a former South African cricketer, began it all by criticizing the Board for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Twitter for pressuring him not to play in the KPL. Look at Is KPL Under ICC’s Jurisdiction.

Is KPL Under ICC’s Jurisdiction

Following this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued an official statement expressing their dissatisfaction. Whereas the Indian board of directors already has stated its position on the league.

The players as well as cricket boards have been advised not to participate in the T20 event. The BCCI has also stated that anyone former player who plays will just be banned from competing in cricket in India.

“While asking the boards not to allow their players to take part in the Kashmir league, we have informed them that in case they do, they can’t be part of any cricketing activity in India. We have done this keeping national interest in mind. We have no problems with those playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but this is a league in PoK. We are toeing our government’s line,” the BCCI official had said.

KPL is not an international cricket tournament: ICC

The KPL’s inaugural season will begin on August 6, with Pakistani cricketers such as Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi among those expected to compete. The BCCI has previously opposed the event since it will be held in Muzaffarabad, a problematic area in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Because the KPL falls under the PCB’s authority, the board, not the ICC, has the authority to organize the competition. The PCB has been approved the KPL, and the contest is likely to proceed.

Furthermore, the cricketing council may only interfere if the contests are to be held in the jurisdiction of an associate member. “The tournament is not under ICC’s jurisdiction as it is not an international cricket tournament,” an ICC spokesperson concluded.
