“It doesn’t look serious,”  “He seems to be fine. Hopefully he’ll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully he’ll be okay,” Rathour said during the press conference

The injury happened towards the end of the net session and it was Rathour who was giving the throwdowns when Rahul got hit on his hand

In case Rahul is unable to play the Test, then the burden of captaincy could fall on the shoulders of veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, who was named vice-captain ahead of the series.

India need to win the second Test also to further improve their chances of finishing in the second spot in the World Test Championship table, so that they can play the final for the second cycle running.

Captain Rohit Sharma will miss the IND vs BAN 2nd Test despite receiving preliminary approval from NCA’s medical team. On Sunday, Rohit is scheduled to travel to Dhaka (Dec 18). He won’t go to Dhaka any longer, though. He will instead rest and heal from the wound. Beginning on January 3, he will return for the Sri Lanka series. In the second Test, vice-captain KL Rahul will remain in charge. Rahul is captaining his first full Test series. India had a 1-0 series lead in the Tests.

Rohit was on his way to getting better from his thumb injury. Even though he was given the go-ahead initially, it turned out that his thumb had not totally recovered. In the second ODI against Bangladesh, while taking a catch, he dislocated his thumb. He has stitches as well.
