KL Rahul Completes Rehab, Looks Forward To Home India vs England Series

28-year-old Indian opener KL Rahul looked dangerous in the ODIs and T20Is against Australia. However, the wicketkeeper was not selected in India’s playing XI for the first two Tests against Australia as he eventually returned to India after sustaining an injury during a practice session at MCG.

Rahul, who scored two half-centuries in the limited over series in Australia, has been named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England starting in Chennai on February 5. His tour of Australia cut short after a wrist injury. India’s star batsman KL Rahul, on Tuesday, said he has regained his fitness after completing rehabilitation and is looking forward to the home series against England.

IND vs END: KL Rahul Back From Rehab After Wrist Injury In Australia

Rahul returned home to join the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation after getting injured in Australia. The Indian cricket team began their nets session on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming series against England.

“Glad to have completed my rehab strong. No better feeling than being back fit and healthy. Always fun to get back with the boys, and an honor to represent. Looking forward to the home series,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

Indian players picked up tons of injuries during the Australia tour. However, it is still not clear if Rahul is going to get a chance in the playing XI in the opening two Tests as there are already lots of players in contention for a slot. With Virat Kohli back in the side and Shubman Gill looking in good form, chances seem to be ice thin for KL Rahul. Nevertheless, Rahul’s return to the side would certainly boost team management’s morale which was dented due to his injury Down Under Test series.

India will play 4 Test matches, 5 T20s, and 3 ODIs in that order against England starting from 5th February 2021. New Zealand have assured itself of a place in the WTC finals after Australia vs South Africa is been called off. Series win between India and England will mostly choose who’ll play against New Zealand in WTC Finals.
