Usman Khawaja Breaks New Record 

First Australian player to score 1000 plus test runs in a calendar year after Marnus Labuschagne who scored 1000+ test runs in 2019

Usman Khawaja New Record: an Australian batsman, reached a new milestone on Thursday when he became the first Australian batsman in three years to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year in Test cricket.

On Day 1 of the second test, when he crossed 40, he accomplished the accomplishment. The Adelaide Oval hosted the Pink Ball Test between Australia and the West Indies. The left-hander joins Jonny Bairstow (1061) and England’s Joe Root (1069) as the only other batters to reach the milestone in Test cricket in 2022.

Marnus Labuschagne once again topped the Test cricket rankings after scoring a double hundred and a hundred in Perth’s opening match against the West Indies. He was the final Kangaroo batter to earn more points in 2019.

  1. Joe Root (England)  has 1069 runs in 13 matches.
  2. Jonny Bairstow (England)  scored 1061 runs in 10 matches.
  3. Usman Khawaja (Australia) made 1008* in 9 matches.
  4. Babar Azam (Pakistan) amassed 801 runs in 6 matches.
  5. Zak Crawley (England) got 781 runs in 13 matches.

Excellent Calendar Year for Usman Khawaja

Usman Khawaja, who averages over 90 and is among the top 3 run scorers in Test cricket in 2022, has passed 1000 runs in his ninth Test. Khawaja has now completed 1000 Test runs in a single year for the first time. In 2016, when he scored 753 runs in 10 matches, he had come close.

Khawaja’s performance will be essential to Australia’s chances of reaching the World Test Championship final because the seasoned opener will be counted on to be one of their batting unit leaders during the eagerly awaited 4-Test series in India early in the following year.
