Kevin Pietersen Roasts Pakistan Batsman Ahmad Shehzad

Pietersen: I’m Not A Journalist. Don’t Talk Like It’s Press Conference

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen used to stand in headlines when he was playing cricket for his attacking style of play. But even now after retiring he stills stays in the spotlight sometimes due to his online presence.

The stylish batsman a few days back appeared in media when he interviewed Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma on the Instagram live session.

Now the retired cricketer is in news again due to his unusual interview with Pakistan batsman Ahmad Shehzad. He hosted Shehzad on an Instagram session this time.

During the live chat, Pietersen questioned Shehzad why he did not score runs in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) which was called off in the middle due to corona fears.

Shehzad tried to reply saying, “I have tried my best in this PSL. I’ve been working really hard and sometimes you know as a cricketer you try everything but it is not coming.”

Then Petersen interrupts saying, “Shezzy (Shehzad), I am not a journalist. I am your buddy so don’t talk to me like you are in a press conference, okay? Why are you not scoring runs?”

Shehzad responds,” “You want a clear answer? I was playing (batting) No.3 and I tried but it was not helping me. It was my first time that I played the entire tournament at No.3. I never complained. I was doing my best, I tried my best but it was not coming.”

“You Are Gonna Carry Drinks”

However, Petersen was not in a mood to let the Pakistani player get off lightly. He retorted, “So you don’t wanna bat No.1, you can’t bat two, you can’t bat three, you can’t bat four, you can’t bat five. I think you must go and bat at 13. Go and bat 13 for Quetta Gladiators next season No.13 for the third team, not even for the first team. You are gonna carry drinks.”

Shehzad scored just 61 runs in seven innings for his team Quetta Gladiators of which Pietersen was also part previously.
