Joe Burns ruled out of BBL 12 due to injury

Melbourne Stars batter Joe Burns Injury Update

Joe Burns Injury Update: Melbourne Stars batter Joe Burns will be a part of the ongoing BBL as he suffered a hamstring injury that forced him out of the league.

The star batter while playing against Sydney Thunder was seen limping after taking a fast single during the start of the 6th over of Mel bourns innings.

Burns, who was part of Brisbane Heat for nine years, has joined the Melbourne Stars in 2021 for a 3-year deal.

His overall BBL career is quite impressive as in 67 matches he has been part of BBL, the 33-year-old has scored 1305 runs at a strike-rate of over 120.

What Head Coach David Hussey said about Joe Burns injury?

David Hussey, the coach of Stars team expressed his disappointment during the Fox Cricket broadcast at the time.

“Joe Burns is a pretty big loss for us, we were basing our whole number three spot around him for the whole year,” Hussey said.

The loss leaves room for young Victorian Campbell Kellaway to make his Big Bash debut, as suggested by Hussey.

David Hussey feels that Campbell Kellaway may make his debut after Burns exclusion due to injury

“Campbell Kellaway, a young Victorian kid who made a good hundred against the South Africans up in Brisbane a few days ago, he’s a real talent,” he said.

“I think he can slot in the middle-order for us, if not at the top. It’s exciting times for Cricket Victoria, we’ve got some good kids coming through. He wants to learn, he works hard at his game, he’s done a heap of work with Jason Arnberger, a former opening batter for Victoria and now he does a lot of work with (Victoria assistant coach) Benny Rohrer.

Kellaway may also get a chance when the Melbourne Stars will play their next match of the league on Friday against Perth Scorchers.

Melbourne Stars in BBL 2022

Melbourne Stars, who is currently standing on fourth spot with 1 win and 1 lose, will be looking to win their Friday’s match to keep up their confidence, but the challenge ahead of them will be tough as they have to face the last year’s champions Perth Scorchers.

Stars played the season’s first game against Sydney Thunder, a low-scoring game, in which unfortunately Star’s side lost it by just a single wicket.

In their second match, the team posted a huge total of 183 on board, courtesy of brilliant unbeaten century knock from Joe Clarke, who remained from start to end at the middle.

Clarke is currently the second highest run-scorer in the league and will likely to perform on similar lines in the game against Perth Scorchers too.

Stars boast a good team comprising of Marcus Stoinis, Trent Boult, Luke Wood and Adam Zampa, of course.

Zampa is the biggest asset of team Stars and is the captain of the team, as earlier, the regular skipper Glenn Maxwell ruled out of the league for this season too.
