The veteran batsman Jason Roy has opted out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, owing to bio bubble fatigue. Roy has also reminded his Gujarat Titans franchise of his choice. Roy’s inclusion to their squad seemed to be a wise decision made by the franchise. However, his absence could be a major setback for the Titans who are preparing to launch their debut season. The Gujarat Titans paid Rs 2 crores to get the right-handed batsman. Roy has also withdrawn from the IPL in the past. The Delhi Capitals had purchased the batsman for Rs 1.5 crores in the 13th season of the IPL, but he had chosen not to play in the league.

Roy’s Exclusion Will Be A Huge Blow For Gujrat Titans (GT) :

The IPL will feature ten teams in 2022, owing to the addition of 2 new teams, the  Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Jason Roy last appeared in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022.  Across the event, the 31-year-old was in great form, scoring 303 runs in only six innings at a 50.50 strike rate. In the event, Roy also achieved a hundred and two half-centuries.

Roy has appeared in 13 IPL matches and amassed 329 runs with an avg of 29.91 and a strike rate of 129.02. In his IPL tenure, the right-handed hitter has also scored two fifties.

Furthermore, Roy’s decision to pull himself out will be disappointing and a big blow for Gujarat Titans as well as their supporters. It could raise many questions that whether any other player would follow Roy’s footsteps considering the Bio Bubble restrictions. If that happens so, it will a major setback for the IPL 2022 upcoming edition.

The IPL 2022 season is set to begin on March 26th, 2022. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the contest’s opening match. The competition will finish on May 29, 2022.

The IPL 2022 season will be held in the state of Maharashtra, with fixtures occurring in Mumbai and Pune. The CSK won the 2021 IPL edition, defeating the KKR by 27 runs in the final match of the tournament, which has been held in Dubai.
