IPL: There Is A Lot Of Yuvraj Singh In Venkatesh Iyer- Parthiv

Former Indian player Parthiv Patel observed similarities between Venkatesh Iyer and Yuvraj Singh following the latter’s match-winning performance versus Mumbai Indians on 23rd September at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Kolkata Knight Riders beat MI by 7 wickets because of Iyer’s blazing 30-ball 53, which included four 4’s and three 6’s. Here you can know why Parthiv Patel Praised Venkatesh Iyer.

The lefty ensured the KKR to chased down 157 with 29 balls to play, moving them to 4rth place in the standings. Patel, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2020, expressed his appreciation for Iyer’s composure in representing the Men in Gold and Purple.

Patel, 36, described him as “fearless,” drawing comparisons to Yuvraj Singh, one of India’s best all-rounders in limited-overs forms.

“We do talk about a lot of boundaries. But the maturity that Venkatesh Iyer showed was superb. We are talking about someone who is not an India A player, someone who has not played international cricket”.

“He showed so much maturity and courage to go out there and back himself. That’s something we always look out for in young players in the IPL. He went out and played fearless cricket”.

“One of the great things about him, having seen him, he can not only open, but he can also bat from 1 to 9 and bowl as well. So, he will have a great future. I think there is a lot of Yuvraj Singh in him. There is a lot of flow,” Parthiv told Star Sports.

Iyer’s IPL career began with a quickfire 41 versus the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which helped the Knights to a 9-wicket triumph. He stepped it up a level in the last game, scoring a half-century off just 25 balls.

Former England spinner Graeme Swann praised Iyer’s batting “swag” and said the left-hander deserved to win the Player of the Match title.

“The boy has got swag and talent. I love the way he goes about his cricket. He is my Man of the Match,” Swann said. Sunil Narine became the Man of the Match after picking up Rohit Sharma’s wicket.
