IPL 2022: Strategies for each playoff team, who needs what to win IPL 2022?

With only 4 games are left to know the winner of IPL 2022. So now it is crucial to understand what strategies each playoff team will plan in order to win the prestigious IPL trophy.

Gujarat Titans:

Gujarat Titans were the first team in the 15th edition of IPL who booked the ticket to playoffs.

The debutant team is all set to win the famous IPL trophy after an exhilarating league stage in which the Hardik Pandya-led side won 10 out of 14 games, and as their prior strategies in every department worked well for the team and they are looking to repeat that on May 29.

However, they must first play Rajasthan Royals in a qualifier 1 game on May 24, and if they win, they will directly advance to the finals.

They have a lot of talent on their side, and they’ll aim to stick to the plans they’ve already implemented. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill are in good form, and Hardik Pandya, David Miller, and Rahul Tewatia all contributed well during the league stage, thus GT will not opt to attempt a new player in place of its tried and true performers.

Their bowlers Rashid Khan, Md Shami, and Lockie Ferguson all are very much capable of restricting and defending targets. So, GT is looking for a very balanced side and they will stick to their league stage’s strategy.

The playoffs consist of two Qualifiers and one Eliminator. Qualifier 1 is played first, followed by the Eliminator and then Qualifier 2.

Rajasthan Royals:

The Royals, who won in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008, are looking to add second title to their bag of achievements.

Rajasthan finished second on the points system, giving them an advantage in the qualifier. In the qualification game, they will meet the formidable Gujarat Titans, who have a good record against them, having lost the game the last time they met.

However, Rajasthan must devise a strategy against their openers first, followed by their captain; if they can eliminate the trio early, they would have a higher chance of winning the game.

But restricting their batters is only half job done, as GT bowlers are equally dangerous, and all Rajasthan batters have to do is to prepare a solid plan against GT bowlers specially the spin master Rashid Khan. Both teams’ batters and bowlers are in good form, so it’ll be intriguing to see who has the last laugh.

Lucknow Super Giants:

LSG will play as a favourite against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator game on May 26.

Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut in the 2022 season, and they quickly established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the competition.

LSG is fully aware of RCB’s weak points, and if they can break Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ partnership early in the innings, as well as dismiss Glenn Maxwell, they will undoubtedly win the game.

They don’t need to create any batting line-up strategies because we all know how destructive they are, and the reason they’ll play as favourites is because they only need to get Kohli, Plessis, and Maxwell out early, and LSG bowlers are highly capable of eliminating any big hitter.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

The fourth team who qualified for the IPL 2022 playoffs is Royal Challengers Bangalore, and they will face Lucknow Super Giants in a do-or-die eliminator match. Whoever wins that match will go to the finals, while whoever loses will be eliminated.

Everyone knows RCB’s strength is their batting, especially their captain FAF du Plessis, but Virat Kohli’s return to form in the last game gives RCB optimism of winning the IPL this year.

However, they will have a lot of work to do to win, as they will be facing LSG, one of the strongest sides of IPL 2022, and RCB rely heavily on their batters. RCB have to make a solid strategy against LSG bowlers, and if they manged to tackle LSG bowlers and put a good score on board then they might have a chance to turn the game into their side.
