We Look at Such Top 5 buys in IPL for 2023 edition

As a result, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Sam Curran were the three most expensive purchases made at an IPL auction. Curran was the most expensive player, going to Punjab Kings for 18.5 crores. Cameron Green was chosen by the Mumbai Indians for 17.5 crores, and Ben Stokes was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for 16.25 crores. It is interesting that the three players arrived at the auction in the same order.

Nicholas Pooran and Harry Brook, who were bought by the Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, respectively, are currently the fourth and fifth most expensive players at the IPL 2023 Mini-Auction. Pooran was purchased for 16 crore, while Brook was sold for 13.25 crore.

IPL 2023 Most Expensive Player: Sam Curran surpassed Chris Morris record

Chris Morris, who RR purchased for 16.25 crore at the IPL 2020 Auction, was surpassed by Curran. It wasn’t the only record either, as Set 2 collapsed the auction in just 15 minutes.

Cameron Green from Australia joined Mumbai Indians (MI) for $17.5 crore, and Ben Stokes, another star of the T20 World Cup from England, moved to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for $16.25 crore.

A bidding war was anticipated for Curran because of its base price of 2 crore. When the bid exceeded 5 crore, MI and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started to compete fiercely, and when only MI and RR remained, the bid exceeded 10 crore.

When CSK and PBKS were left to compete, it appeared that the latter had won with a bid of 15 crore. Nevertheless, CSK countered with a bid of 15.25 crore, and PBKS increased it to 15.50 crore. Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) jump in at that precise moment and offer Rs. 15.75 crore. With 16.50 crore, PBKS resumed the fight, and MI added 16.75 crore. PBKS ultimately prevailed, buying the all-around player for 18.50 crore.

Stokes became the most costly player in CSK’s history during the current auction. Green became the most expensive Australian in the IPL auction and the second-most expensive player in IPL history in addition to being the most expensive player in MI history.
