Speedster Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss IPL 2023 and WTC Final

IPL 2023:Jasprit Bumrah’s injury seems more severe than it first seemed, and he might be out for longer than expected.

In that case, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League season and World Test Championship final as well. Bumrah, who hasn’t played cricket since September 2022, missed important competitions including the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup in 2022. Moreover, he was not picked for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is essential for India to qualify for the World Test Championship final. His chances of playing for Mumbai Indians in the 2023 IPL season are now very low.

According to some media reports, the BCCI has indicated that he may miss a significant amount of cricket in the upcoming months, possibly including the WTC final if India manages to qualify.

BCCI wants to have the best bowler available for the ODI World Cup in October-November and does not want to take any chances with his injury because he is still experiencing pain.

Jasprit Bumrah’s last international match

The right-arm quick’s final international game was against Australia on September 25, 2022, at home in a T20I match. He has since been receiving medical treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Bumrah was initially scheduled to make his competitive cricket comeback with Sri Lanka in ODIs last month but was later disqualified for failing to recover in time. Since he has a history of injuries, the top pacer has come under a lot of criticism, but India sorely missed his services during the T20 World Cup last year.

The Speedster Bumrah initially experienced a lower stress fracture after the England visit in July. He subsequently made a brief comeback in September during the domestic T20I series against Australia, but he then re-injured his back and hasn’t played since.

Bumrah in Border-Gavaskar series

Bumrah is not currently playing for Team India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India leads the four-match series 2-0. He was initially not part of the team for the first two Test matches, and afterwards, his name was there in the squad that was revealed for the third and fourth games against Australia, as previously reported, since the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he is receiving rehabilitation, did not clear him for international competition.

Setback for Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2023

It’s a major setback for Mumbai Indians, who will be looking to rebound in IPL 2023 following a terrible season in which they placed last in the standings with only 4 victories in 14 games.

While Team India will also suffer a significant setback if they compete in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in June, as they will be without their great player Jasprit Bumrah, in pace friendly England conditions.
