IPL 2022: Week Four Review-Top 10 Batsmen

It was expected that the pitches in IPL 2022 will slow down at the business end of the tournament. But there were early signs this week with pitches aiding turn and sticking wickets. The batsmen found it tough to get going right from ball one. But a few class knocks separated the best from the rest. Here is the list of IPL 2022: Top 10 Batsmen in week 4.

We look at the IPL 2022: Top 10 Batsmen At The End of week four:

#10 Andre Russell (227)

The big-hitting allrounder has made his way back into the run charts. Andre Russell was KKR’s lone warrior against GT. He smashed a 25-ball 48. Russell has scored 227 runs in 8 games so far. His average is a scorching 45 but it’s his strike rate of 180.15 that takes the cake.

#9 Suryakumar Yadav (239)

He continues to remain in the top-10 despite having a below-par week. Suryakumar Yadav has notched up 239 runs in 6 games so far. He averages 47.80 striking at 151.26. Yadav has been MI’s batting mainstay this season.

#8 Shivam Dube (239)

He has been CSK’s best batting bet this season. In a season where Ruturaj Gaikwad has failed miserably, it has been Shivam Dube who has stood. Despite dropping 4 spots in the run charts, Dube continues to hold his ground. He has scored 239 runs in 7 games at an average of 39.83 with a strike rate of 161.48.

#7 Shreyas Iyer (248)

KKR would have ideally wanted more from Shreyas Iyer, the captain. Iyer though ranked number 7 in the batting charts has disappointed largely. He is yet to play a match-winning knock so far. Iyer has scored 248 runs in 8 games at an average of 35.43 with a strike rate of 142.52.

#6 Prithvi Shaw (254)

He has really come into his own with the arrival of David Warner. Prithvi Shaw has again started making the powerplay count. His blistering starts at the top of the order and has helped DC’s cause. He has scored 254 runs in 7 games at an average of 36.29 with a strike rate of 164.93.

#5 Faf du Plessis (255)

The RCB captain, Faf du Plessis has played a couple of smashing knocks this season. His knock against LSG was of the top draw. Faf has more than made up for the failure of Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli. He has amassed 255 runs in 8 games at an average of 31.88 with a strike rate of 131.10. Interestingly Faf scores the lowest in both the parameters for the top-10 batters.

#4 Tilak Varma (272)

He has been one of the few shining lights for MI this season. His fearless stroke-play has largely lit up MI’s otherwise disappointing season. Tilak Varma has scored 272 runs in 8 games at an average of 45.33 with a strike rate of 140.20.

#3 Hardik Pandya (295)

The Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya, has been nothing short of sensational. He has notched up three successive fifties in his last three games. Pandya has scored 295 runs in 6 games at an average of 73.75 with a strike rate of 136.57.

#2 KL Rahul (368)

Twice in two Sundays, KL Rahul lit up the IPL with centuries. He became the only second batsman after Virat Kohli to score successive centuries against the same opposition in the same season. KL Rahul has scored 368 runs in 8 games at an average of 61.33. His strike rate of 147.79 is pretty impressive too.

#1 Jos Buttler (491)

He continues his stay at the top. But it is this week that Jos Buttler has comfortably distanced himself from the rest. He smashed two centuries this week in two successive games. His centuries were the telling difference in the wins over KKR and DC. Buttler has smashed 491 runs in 7 games at an average of 81.83 at a strike rate of 161.51.
