IPL 2022: Sanju Samson talks about how Rahul Dravid shaped his Career in ‘these three-four years..’

Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), is in good form in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will be looking to lead his team to the IPL 2022 series playoffs with ease. Despite losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their recent encounter on Tuesday, the club is now in third place in the IPL 2022 standings with 12 points from ten games, comprising six victories and four losses.

The wicketkeeper-batsman chatted with Gaurav Kapur on Breakfast with Champions about playing under Rahul Dravid at RR and the Delhi Capitals, where the former India captain acted as a coach.

Samson indicated that he would keep a notepad with the renowned cricketer’s instructions. “I feel like I’ve asked him virtually everything in the three-and-a-half years I have known him. My notebook still has all of my notes. I would return to my room after speaking with him and note down what he had said “, stated the RR captain.

Samson explained how Dravid pushed the team’s young players during his time with the Delhi Capitals. “There were Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Mayank Agarwal, and Rishabh Pant. We’d all had similar opportunities to learn from Rahul Dravid. I recall him calling a group of us and telling us, “I believe all of you will play for India one day. That was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for every member of that team “, he explained.

Prior to the 2021 Indian Premier League, Sanju was selected as captain of the Rajasthan Royals in January 2021. He became the first skipper in the IPL history to score a century in his debut match as captain. Later in the season, in the IPL, he scored 3000 runs. With 615 runs from 18 innings versus Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, he became the hitter with the most runs.

He was the leading run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals with 484 runs in 14 games, and he was also the tournament’s sixth greatest run-scorer. In the 2021 IPL, he was named to ESPN Cricinfo and Wisden’s Team of the Tournaments.

Rajasthan Royals retained him ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League season in November 2021. The 27-year-old has 298 runs in 10 games in the 2017 IPL season, including two half-centuries. Rajasthan will play Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday in their next match.
