IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders 1st Innings 10 Overs Update

The contest between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders is on and it has gotten all of us excited! Kolkata won the toss and elected to field first. Rajasthan batting first scored 62 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of 10 overs.

The pitch at Wankhede looks a lot different from what we saw yesterday. The ease with which Chennai openers played was not found in either Jos or Padikkal who looked uneasy with the bat. Padikkal lost his wicket early on to Umesh Yadav in the third over. Buttler along with Sanju continued the innings but it was slower than usual. In the first six overs, the duo scored 38 runs.

Sanju Samson looked determined today as he hit the ball cleanly and timed his shot well. He scored quick runs even after the powerplay. Anukul Roy bowled the 6th over of the innings and couldn’t keep things tight as he conceded 11 runs from the over. The 8th over of the innings was bowled by Suniel Naraine who gave just 7 runs from the over.

9 runs and the most important wicket of Jos Buttler came off the 9th over of the innings bowled by Southee which brought KKR into a dominant position as RR’s man-in form got out. Anukul bowled the 10th over of the innings, conceding just 4 runs from the over.

If Sanju continues the way he is batting, we might not miss Buttler today. But it is important for Rajasthan batters to give support to their skipper from the other end. To ensure RR doesn’t score big, the bowlers must take wickets because if they pick up speed, it will be really difficult to stop the Royals.

The run rate at the end of 10 overs is 6.20. The projected score at this rate at the end of the innings is 140 runs. Sanju Samson 31 (27) and Karun Nair 4 (4)  are at the crease now.
