IPL 2022: I Want ‘BIG BROTHER’ Chahal To Win Purple Cap: Kuldeep Yadav

Purple Cap

Chahal To Win Purple Cap Says Kuldeep: Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal’s IPL 2022 comeback has been a real treat. Despite losing the opportunity in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the prolific wrist-spinners are now in phenomenal form this IPL season, as the ‘Kul-Cha’ combo is generating buzz and making the headlines for all the best of reasons.

Whereas Yuzvendra Chahal leads the highest wicket-takers with 18 scalps in eight games, Kuldeep Yadav has 17 wickets in eight games and has been named Player of the Match in all four of Delhi Capital’s triumphs.

Chahal has become one of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) most exciting prospects throughout the years, however, he was not secured in the retentions by the previous champions prior to the IPL 2022 blockbuster auction. RCB  did not really even compete for the leg-spinner during the auction, but Rajasthan Royals (RR) were able to obtain his services for INR 6.50 crore.

Kuldeep, on the other extreme, did not appear in a single match for KKR last year before getting injured in the IPL 2021 UAE leg. In 2020, the wrist-spinner, who had been out of form for the previous two years, appeared in only five games for KKR and took only one wicket.

Chahal has been bowling exceptionally over the past four years: Kuldeep

Kuldeep has discovered a fresh perspective of life with the DC, where he has the wholehearted support of skipper Rishabh Pant and head coach Ricky Ponting, who has stated that the left-arm spinner was among their top priorities at the auction.

“He has encouraged me a lot. He has been like a big brother and stood by me during my bad times. In my heart, I want him to go and win the Purple Cap because he has been bowling exceptionally over the past four years,” said Kuldeep.

“When you fail in life, you get to know where you went wrong. When you manage to figure that out, it makes you mentally strong and you are no longer afraid of failure.”

Having Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal returning to wicket-taking form, all attention is on the 2 wrist-spinners as the battle for the Purple Cap ramps up. Kuldeep, on the other hand, made it obvious that he wishes his ‘big brother’ Chahal to receive the prize at the end of the show.

It was also the 2nd time Kuldeep demonstrated KKR’s collapse in IPL 2022. Kuldeep dragged up 4/35 in their 4-wicket triumph over Shreyas Iyer’s side in the identical matchup. Kuldeep had just three overs to bowl on Thursday, but he finished with stats of 4/14, including the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Russell, and Narine.

Kuldeep was restored to the national team during the Sri Lanka series prior to the IPL, and he looked to have a bright career ahead of him. Kuldeep stated he has learned to avoid thinking about setbacks in the IPL 2022 campaign, offering clarity on what really improved.
