LSG on the other hand has lost two consecutive games. It is under these circumstances that these two sides meet each other. Game number 66 of IPL 2022 has a lot riding on it. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will play host to this contest.

Current Form: Kolkata Knight Riders

Not so long ago the KKR camp looked down and out. Their season seemed to be going nowhere. They had lost six of their last seven games. KKR suffered an embarrassing loss against Lucknow Super Giants. They could have sulked further to finish at the bottom or try to fight back. KKR thankfully chose the latter. They put a solid performance against Mumbai Indians. KKR won the game handsomely. They followed it up with a brilliant win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

KKR is currently placed sixth in the points table. They have 12 points from 13 games. KKR can fetch a maximum of 14 points. It won’t ensure automatic qualification for them still. They will need a lot of results to go their way. But if they slip up against LSG, it will be curtains for them.

Current Form: Lucknow Super Giants

The Lucknow Super Giants for the large part of the tournament appeared invincible. They even usurped GT from the top with a resounding win over KKR. A lot of cricketing experts predicted it will be LSG who will make it to the playoffs first. But a game against Gujarat Titans changed everything for LSG. GT outplayed LSG in all departments. They inflicted a heavy defeat on them. It was for the first time that LSG lost without putting up a fight.

It got worse for them in the next game against RR. They conceded their long-occupied second spot to RR. It was for the first time this season that LSG had lost two games on the bounce. They still need just a win to qualify for the playoffs. LSG might make it through with a loss too but then their fortunes will no longer be in their own hands.

The stakes:

A week is a long time in the IPL. KKR has turned around its fortunes rather brilliantly in the past week. They will be the more buoyant side when they come up against LSG. It will be an absorbing contest!
