IPL 2022: We Were Not Good Enough, The Points Table Is Not Lying, Says Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah on Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) star pacer Jasprit Bumrah said on Saturday that the side is upset with their dismal outings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The five-time IPL winners were defeated by the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Mumbai’s – Brabourne Stadium. Let’s look at what has been said by Jasprit Bumrah on Mumbai Indians Performance.

Despite winning the toss, MI opt to bowl first versus the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), but the strategy backfired as LSG’s lofty 199 target, courtesy to KL Rahul’s brilliant century. Mumbai, pursuing 200 to win, got off to a sluggish start, dropping both of their starters in quick succession.

Dewald Brewis did offer some hopeful indications, but after Suryakumar Yadav was removed, the scenario became more difficult for the Mumbai team. Kieron Pollard and Unadkat fought their hardest but fell short by 18 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah on Mumbai Indians: Nobody is disappointed as we are

“Nobody is disappointed as we are. Nobody from outside can see the hard work we put in. There is luck here and there. It is the way it is, we are not shying away. We were not good enough and the table (points table) is not lying. In the rest of the games, we will give our best shot and try to come out better,” he added.

Following the failure, Jasprit Bumrah remained positive to make a comeback, noting that success and failure are part of the game. He expressed his disappointment at failing and stated his belief that no one outside the squad is aware of the effort they are putting in.

“I am ready to bowl in any situation. I will do exactly what gives the best balance to the team. I am ready to take up the role that is in the team’s interest. We will analyze if I should start with the new ball. Personally, I am very happy with my own rhythm,” Bumrah said.

“With a lot of games and a little luck here and there, but yeah, it is the way it is. I’m not shying away from that we were not good enough and the table is not lying. In the rest of the games, we will again give our best shot and try to come out on the better side,” he added.
