IPL 2022: Ahmedabad Franchise Officially Named As ‘Gujarat Titans’

The Ahmedabad-based franchise has officially announced its name before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 blockbuster auction. The name of the team, Gujarat Titans, has been confirmed on Wednesday (February 9). According to prior sources, the team was named Ahmedabad Titans. All speculations have been put to an end, therefore, since a confirmed Twitter account termed “Gujarat Titans” has been created. Here Is Ahmedabad Franchise Officially Named As ‘Gujarat Titans’.

The page’s description said, “Official account of Gujarat Titans, the newest team in the Indian Premier League.” For the uninitiated, the IPL will expand to ten teams in 2022, with the inclusion of 2 new additional franchises: Lucknow & Ahmedabad. Lucknow has already given the official name Lucknow Super Giants to their prospective side. As a result, everyone was waiting for the identity of Ahmedabad’s squad to be revealed.

However, in IPL 2022, the Titans will be headed by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Rashid Khan, a leg-spinner, and Shubman Gill, a batsman, are the 2 players chosen by the team ahead of the auction process. Prior to the giant auction, the 8 current teams were able to select a maximum of 4 players for the unversed. Out from the list of non-retained individuals, the 2 additional teams selected 3 players each.

Each team was given a spending plan of INR 90 crore. Ahmedabad has left with a purse of INR 52 crore due to the retention of 3 capped players. Now they must assemble a powerful squad for the auction event. Interestingly, the IPL 2022 giant auction will start happening on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. As many as 590 players, 370 Indians, and 220 from other countries are expected to be auctioned off, and all ten teams will be busy planning prior to the event. Furthermore, the showpiece competition is slated to begin this year in the final week of March.
