Now that the second half of the IPL will be continued in UAE, it is likely that Rishabh Pant will continue to be the captain of Delhi Capitals. “While it is great news that Shreyas Iyer is fit again and ready to get back to action, it is understood that the DC management wants to give him more time to recover. As a result, Pant will continue as captain, but only for the second half of IPL 2021,” as reported.

On other hand, Shreyas Iyer has now completely recovered from the injury and he also mentioned that his rehabilitation time was powerful and he felt different watching the dressing room after so long.

“Currently, I am feeling amazing, the journey was awesome, to be honest. I never hesitated for a while but right after the injury, I was sulking a bit and I didn’t know exactly what to do. I went into the dressing room and cried and it took me a while to digest it but yeah, at the end of the day, you need to go through all of it,” he stated.

Delhi Capitals had a splendid run in the first half of the tournament where they won 6 out of 8 matches. Apart from players of national duties, others have reached UAE to the training ground and they’re gearing up for the much-awaited tournament.

IPL will be started from 19th September 2021 with rivals Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings playing the first match of the second leg. Delhi Capitals will be facing the out-of-form Sunrisers Hyderabad team on 22nd September, where they’ll have a good chance to increase their points for qualification.
