IPL 2021: Ranking Teams Based On Big Hitters

IPL has come a long way in the last 13 years. The games are now being increasingly dominated by the presence of power hitters. Teams like Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders keep going for the big hits no matter what the scenario. Even though it is a risk-driven approach, but it pays huge dividends. The likes of Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard have redefined IPL hitters in the last couple of IPL seasons.

StumpsandBails ranks IPL teams based on their big hitters:

#8 Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings lacked a fiery opening partnership last season. This hampered their progress in the tournament. Apart from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, there are hardly any big-hitting players in the lineup. The acquisition of Moeen Ali and the return of Suresh Raina adds good muscle to the batting lineup. Sam Curran and Krishnappa Gowtham will be handy!

#7 Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals surprised everyone when they bought Steve Smith in IPL auctions 2021. They have similar kinds of players in Smith and Ajinkya Rahane. DC will be hoping for Prithvi Shaw to continue his great domestic form. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, and Shimron Hetymer are crucial to DC’s fortunes.

#6 Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers Hyderabad’s big-ticket power hitter is none other than their captain, David Warner. He will be looking at the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, Mitchell Marsh, and Kane Williamson to provide necessary fireworks. The big-hitting Abdul Samad will be keen to make a great impression too.

#5 Kolkata Knight Riders

The middle-order of Kolkata Knight Riders is every team’s envy. Their middle-order comprises Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, and Sunil Narine. We doubt any team boasts of such quality hitters in the middle-order. If they fire in unison, it will be hard to stop KKR.

#4 Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have the best top-order in IPL 2021. KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan, and Nicholas Pooran, you name them, they have them. Every player in that top 5 is capable of changing the game on his day. The Kings are a side to watch out for!

#3 Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals possess some serious batting firepower in their ranks. The newly appointed captain Sanju Samson leads the way. RR has quality big hitters in the form of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, David Miller, Jofra Archer, Chris Morris, and Rahul Tewatia. This is some batting line-up.

#2 Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore made two big purchases at the IPL auctions in 2021. They bought Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson for INR 14.25 crores and INR 15 crores respectively. These players add muscle to RCB’s batting. Not to forget the acquisition of veteran Daniel Christian. RCB’s batting lineup comprises Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Christian, and Kyle Jamieson. We haven’t even included Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Azharuddeen in the list IPL hitters.

#1 Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have the best top 7 in the competition. The fact that each of them can single-handedly change the game adds to their repertoire. Openers Quinton De Kock and Rohit Sharma are both destructive. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan can effortlessly hit boundaries. While it can’t get better than the middle-order trio of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, and Krunal Pandya. This MI team is a beast.
