IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals Beat Chennai Super Kings By 44 Runs

Chennai Super Kings Lost Early Wickets Which Lead To Their Downfall:

Chasing 176 to win, Chennai Super Kings got off to a poor start as they lost both their openers Shane Watson and Murali Vjay in the power play. Watson went out to Axar Patel while Anrich Nortje removed Vijay.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who entered to bat at No. 4, was unable to impress as he had run out after only five runs had been scored. Earlier, Prithvi Shaw (64 out of 43) scored his 5th IPL half-century as Delhi Capitals scored 175/3 against Chennai Super Kings at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Shaw was well supported by his opening partner, Shikhar Dhawan (35 runs off 27), who played more cautiously up front but more than did when the field restriction was over.

The duo added 36 runs in the first six overs without any loss and capitalised on the start after the power play, taking an aggressive approach to the CSK spinners. Both players found limits at will, and they looked to take the game away from them.

That was not to be the case, however, as Piyush Chawla paid off his captain ‘s confidence in him by removing both the openings in a fast succession to stop the run flow. CSK bowlers bowled beautifully to death in order to limit them to 175/3.

However, Chennai Super Kings efforts could help them score 131/7 in 20 overs in reply to 175/3.
