In the second match of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), Marcus Stoinis (53) took Delhi Capitals to a total fight of 157/8 with a blissful half-century after a stellar display by Mohammed Shami (3/15), backed by valuable shifts by debutant Ravi Bishnoi (1/22) and Sheldon Cottrell (2/24) made it look like Kings XI Punjab may have a small goal to chase on Sunday.
However, Delhi Capitals went on to beat Kings XI Punjab in the Super Over after the Punjab-based franchise finished at 157 for eight after 20 overs in their innings. In the Super Over, Kagiso Rabada removed KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran from successive deliveries to end KXIP’s innings. Chasing three runs to win, Delhi Capitals got over with ease.
Earlier, KXIP was chasing 158 for the win and needed one run to win three deliveries. Marcus Stoinis bowed a dot and followed it up with the vital wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who scored 89 runs off 60 balls. Chris Jordan chipped one straight into the hands of Kagiso Rabada, and the match went to the Super Over.
