Venkatesh Prasad KSCA President IPL 2026: RCB Will Play at Chinnaswamy
Venkatesh Prasad Elected KSCA President
Former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad was elected as the new president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on December 7, 2025. Prasad defeated KN Shanth Kumar with a convincing margin, securing 749 votes against Shanth Kumar’s 558. So let’s know about Venkatesh Prasad KSCA President IPL 2026.
Elated with his victory, Prasad emphasized that this win is not just personal but a significant step toward bringing high-profile cricket back to the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which has remained absent from hosting top-tier matches following the June 4 stampede during RCB’s IPL victory parade.
“This is a victory for the sport of cricket and for all members who wanted international cricket to return to the Chinnaswamy Stadium,” Prasad said, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Commitment to Reviving Cricket in Bengaluru
Ahead of the elections, Prasad received strong backing from former teammates Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath. In his manifesto, the 56-year-old promised to restore the Chinnaswamy Stadium as a premier venue for IPL and international cricket.
“We are here because of the support and faith of all our members. We will fulfill our manifesto and do everything possible for the game,” Prasad stated as per Deccan Herald.
Chinnaswamy’s Recent Setbacks
The stadium had previously lost hosting rights for the 2025 Women’s World Cup and was not included for the upcoming 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. RCB, which traditionally hosts its home games at Chinnaswamy, was reportedly in talks with the Maharashtra Cricket Association to shift its IPL 2026 matches to Gahunje Stadium, Pune.

Government Support for Bengaluru Cricket
KSCA member and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also reassured cricket fans that RCB’s matches would remain in Bengaluru. He emphasized that the city’s pride and the stadium’s reputation are paramount.
“We will not allow IPL matches to be shifted out of Chinnaswamy. We will also work on constructing a new cricket stadium as an alternative while ensuring such incidents don’t happen again,” Shivakumar wrote on X.
With Prasad at the helm and government backing, it appears that Bengaluru cricket fans can look forward to seeing RCB play at Chinnaswamy in IPL 2026, along with the possible return of international fixtures.
