Batting first, Punjab Kings posted an imposing 219/5 in their 20 overs. The innings began with early hiccups as they lost three wickets within the first four overs.

Tushar Deshpande struck twice, removing Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran, while Kwena Maphaka accounted for Mitchell Owen without scoring.  

However, Nehal Wadhera turned the tide with a powerful 70 off 37 balls, anchoring the innings alongside Shreyas Iyer, who contributed a quick 30. The real fireworks came from Shashank Singh, whose blistering 59* off 30 balls, laced with 5 fours and 3 sixes, propelled Punjab past the 200-mark. Azmatullah also chipped in with a late cameo of 21* from just 9 balls.

Chasing 220, Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start thanks to a blazing 40 off 15 balls by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and a solid 50 from Yashasvi Jaiswal.  

But Harpreet Brar’s crucial breakthroughs pegged them back, as he dismissed both openers and Riyan Parag. The Royals kept up the run rate but kept losing wickets at vital moments. Dhruv Jurel’s enterprising 53 gave them hope, but Marco Jansen and Azmatullah returned to pick up key wickets in the death overs. The Royals eventually fell short, ending at 209/7. 

Harpreet Brar’s 3/22 was pivotal in breaking Rajasthan’s momentum, while Azmatullah, Arshdeep and Jansen provided the finishing touch with the ball. The win showcased Punjab’s depth and fighting spirit under pressure, with contributions from both seasoned players and emerging talent. 

With this victory, Punjab Kings not only collected two valuable points but also moved upto to second on the points table with 17 points.
