Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants 54th Match Highlights
Prabhsimran Singh’s 91 Powers Punjab to Strong Total
The standout performer of the evening was Prabhsimran Singh, whose blistering knock of 91 runs off just 48 deliveries anchored Punjab’s innings. The right-hander displayed impeccable timing and power-hitting, peppering the boundaries with 6 fours and 7 massive sixes.
His aggressive intent was evident from the very beginning, as he tore into the opposition bowling with a superfluity of lofted drives, cuts, and unconventional strokes. His association with Shreyas Iyer’s 45 off 25 balls was key in creating momentum in the middle overs.
Punjab Kings put up a strong total of 236/5 in 20 overs, thanks to late fireworks from Shashank Singh 33* off 15 balls and Marcus Stoinis 15* off 5 for a good finish.
Akash Maharaj Singh took two wickets for Lucknow but was costly, giving away 30 runs in his four overs. Young leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi also took two breaks but couldn’t stop the run flow.
Ayush Badoni’s 74 Not Enough as Lucknow Falls Short
Lucknow Super Giants never really got started in reply, even with a heroic 74 off 40 balls by Ayush Badoni and a whirlwind 45 by Abdul Samad. Arshdeep Singh was deadly with the new ball, getting rid of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran in succession, ending on 3 wickets in 4 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai and Yuzvendra Chahal also chipped in with breakthroughs to keep the pressure on the chasing team.
Barring a late Avesh Khan flurry of 19* off 10, Lucknow failed, ending on 199/7. The all-round Punjab Kings’ performance with Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive knock ensured they took two crucial points and secured the 2nd place in the points table.
