IPL 2025 Operation Sindoor impact on MI & DC Travel Plans
Delhi Capitals (DC) is stuck, and Mumbai Indians (MI) are yet to travel to Dharmashala as Operation Sindoor impacts the airspace. States sharing a border with Pakistan will have their airports closed until May 10, 5:30 AM IST. So let’s look at the IPL 2025 Operation Sindoor impact.
DC and MI Travel Plans Affected
The Indian Premier League 2025 is currently facing a crisis of a probable shift in the schedule due to the operation Sindoor. Dharamshala airport, alongside Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, are closed until 5:30 AM on May 10, 2025.
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are to host two games at their second home against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS will take on Axar Patel’s DC on May 8, 2025. In addition, their second consecutive encounter at home is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11, 2025.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Axar Patel and company’s Delhi Capitals (DC) are already at the venue. However, the problem arises for Axar Patel’s team travelling back to their home for the DC vs GT game on Sunday, 11 May 2025. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) upcoming encounter against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday is another concern. MI is yet to travel to Dharmashala for the match due to the airspace being shut.
As of now, no advisory has been issued for the PBKS vs DC match to be held tomorrow. Therefore, the game might take place on its scheduled time and date. On the other hand, MI, expected to travel to Dharmashala later this week, might face a last-minute change of plans. However, no such confirmation has been issued by the government yet. Hope both matches to happen at their planned time.
Mumbai Indians Playoff Chances
MI slipped to the fourth spot after the last match loss at home against the Gujarat Giants (GT). However, their playoff chances are still alive. With two matches remaining, if MI wins both, they will be at 18 points, a sure qualification. Another scenario includes MI winning one of the two remaining games with a good run-rate and expecting DC and KKR to lose their remaining matches. If MI loses both games, it’s elimination for them.
